I have come across some nice figured black walnut that I am going to use for the tops and backs of my new bass. My big problem is that I want a mahogany core, but I am worried about the colors not looking good together. If anyone has any basses that are walnut (or other similar colored woods) and mahogany, could you please post them. Also it is a fretless and will have lightwaves, if that changes anything. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I have no pics, but I tell you, Mahogany between Walnut will look nice! And sound to its looks, if properly made.

This just happened to be posted in another thread right about now: walnut top and back, mahogany core, maple accents.

I'd put either a maple, or a purpleheart accent line...either would look great I think.

It will be a 5 piece maple and purpleheart neck through.
