Topless Jazz rumor

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by supermetroid, Mar 21, 2003.

  1. I heard a rumor that it's impossible to render a brand new Fender Jazz topless because of the way they're doing the routing these days. Apparently it exposes the wiring if you remove the pickguard. I haven't had a chance to actually undress one and find out. Is there any truth to this?

  2. Well, it's true of my 2000 model.

On Jazzes with pickguards, yes. You can still get Jazzes without, like the FMT AFAIK.

I've got a 2000 MIM jazz and if you take of the pickguard then you see all them perty wires.

I think the Vintage Reissues still don't have those routes, but I could be mistaken.

  7. Anyone know how long the new routing has been in effect?

i believe since the early seventies,i've seen older basses with them as well as the "re-issues' if you get the jaco re-issue its top-less,i think it's the only one:bassist:
