Just purchased a used Trace 2103 (210) cab, taking delivery
next Friday. Found old Trace page on the net and it talked about tuning the cab ie: sealing either one or both ports or leaving both open! How does this work and how would you go about such actions??

Trace Elliot made plugs/caps that fit the ports. By plugging one or both ports the sound of the enclosure is changed. Normally when you plug a port it will raise the resonant frequency and create a more punchy response but you sacrifice some lows. Hopefully your cab comes with the plugs. You will just have to experiment with what sounds best for your style and music.

Thanks Kelly maybe if there's no caps I'll be putting my old football socks to good use :D
  4. I'm new to cab design so I very well could be wrong but I'm under the impression that you would lower the tuning frequency if you plug one of two ports of equal dimentions.
  5. Plugging 1 of 2 ports lower the tuning point.
  6. as i remember from the cab i used to have
    both open: 45 hz
    one open : 35 hz
    closed : 55 hz
it didn´t do that much of a difference (always sounding good ;) )but with one open it did get a little "floppy" and loose.
