    Hi all.

Anyone got the skinny on the Trace 2103X cabinet? It's 2 x 10, 2 x 5 cabinet that was apparently discontinued by Trace Elliot a few years back. I'm looking at buying one instead of one of their newer 2103H (2 x 10 only) cabinets and wondered if anyone had any opinions or thoughts on the cabinet. Or, very helpfully, a manual/pdf file?

    Thanks.

    Pete

    Hi,

I have one. This cab is intended to be used with a 15" sub.
It does not have enough low end to be a stand alone cab.

With a good 15" it sounds phenomenal, very nice
mid range resolution, very funky and brighter than your typical 2x10.

Its rated at 300W and fairly heavy.

I am going back and forth between the EA CXL112 and the trance in combination with the 15" EV I have.

    - CXL 112 sounds more modern and has much more bass
    - Trace has better midrange and sounds warmer, but is problematic in some rooms. It does not have the top-end of the CXL 112.

When it came out I think it was the best sounding cab on the market when useed with a 15".

I had some problems with mine:
    - The 5" are buzzing when mounted flat on the front baffle. I have them shimmed with washers - no buzz.
    - The cups that isolate the 5" from the 10 are not perfectly leak tight. Where the cables come through there is a gap. Fixed that with silicone glue.
