Hi Guys, I have been with my Trace GP7 AH150 since new in 84 and loved every minute, plus she's never let me down. But now I really like the idea of a Valve Trace.
I play mostly heavier rock and play quite hard.

For small gigs I quite like the idea of the Valve twin 120w combo, but something inside says no! go for POWER!!! V4 V6 V8.

Is there a definite difference between the Twin and the V types, could it be I just forget the Twin and concetrate on the V types?.

I really am a little out of my depth on all aspects of the amps, so hopefully someone may be able to help steer me nearer a decision.

    Cheers in advance, Sean.

;) Well after searching info on the net and the forums over here in the Uk, I finally went for the V8 and Wow what a beast :D For the other pup on the 4001 I went for a Twin Valve which has rounded off the sound nicely :smug: .
    Cheers.

  3. Sounds very cool, Seans.

    Pics?

If you have an opportunity to write a review of your new V8, I'm sure there are a lot of TBers in addition to myself who would be interested.

    Oh, and pics?

:) Ok here goes, I'm not to good with the attm thing, this should be the ''V8'' the ''Twin Valve'' and the old ''AH150 GP7'', with the 8 x10 dedicated Trace cab, the Hartley Thompson 410 plus 79 4001 and 70 EB3 Slot Head.
I just love them all :D
:bag: I do have to admit that my first gig with this set up will be next week, plus my band mates have also yet to feel the ''Power'' for our annual ( well feels like it anyway ) practice.

Sure that would be fine, once I have got through the first gig, which is a really small venue for the V8, ( but they are going to get it whatever!) I would love to post a review.

Cheer's Tom, I had seen your site plus all the gear and was really quite bowled over :help: .

The guy's who were Trace, really were genuine enthusiasts and ''into their sounds'' which shows in all they made.

  9. I love the look of that trace cab. I don't see them all that often but i prefer the look of those ones to the ones with the red band through the middle.

The V8/810 looks gnarly. I 'll be on the watch for tsunamis off the coast of Merry Old. Enjoy.

    Thanks Guy's.

There have been 2 for sale over here in the last few months, mine and the other one which I think is now coming over the pond your way, but when mine came up I just got straight in the car with some cash, while driving I had talked myself into the sale anyway and then when I actually saw the beast on the cab I thought without trying it, Jeeze this thing has got to be bought, I don't care even if its not working! this thing just looks frickin awesome, :hyper: then I plugged in and went weak at the knee's, this thing is soooo smoooth but its growling too, I couldn't get it in the car fast enough. I have been playing ever since :bassist:

I don't know if I'll ever see a V8 in person over here. I'm just thrilled that I now have Kelly's old QuatraValve!

Cheers, its like a part of me now, I bought it new in the early 80's. Really beat myself up about fitting the Badass :rollno: , but so glad I did, its like night and day.

Let me know if you get over to the UK, you're welcome to come n jam.

The Quatra or Hexa was my initial first choice, my Twin has a great sound n can only imagine the Quatra is more full n has real grunt.

I haven't given it a real workout yet, but it certainly has grunt!

Quatra and HexaValve heads are my absolute favorite bass heads. I wish I didn't sell mine but I'm sure it will finally see the stage time it deserves.

Tombowlus let me play through his V8/Berg NV610 stack, with an 8 string. That was a sound I will never forget.

Neither will I, my friend! Heck, I went out and bought two 8-string basses after hearing you rip that out! :smug: :D :bassist:
