  1. I have a Ampeg 1965 SB-12 i am willing to hear offers on. This is a great amp but i find my self just not playing it!

This is a 25 Watt all tube 12in combo in original blue check tolex. No mods ever done! It was serviced a few months back at Chrome dome audio in Cincinnati, Ohio. And is back to 1965 spec! Ready for another 47 years!

Has original Amperex bugle boy pre amp tubes and GE rec tube.

Chrome dome replaced the power cord, caps, and installed NOS tubes bought from Fliptops. I have all old parts!

Grill cloth replaced by Vintage Blue. I have old cloth!

Dolly bought from Fliptops. Paid upcharge for original tolex!

Installed new dolly mount. Have old!

Installed new beta 12 speaker. No old speaker :(

Installed new Plexi. No old plexi:(

Cleaned and refinshed by my self and a co worker. Tolex was in bad shape. Had to cut some pieces back into cab at bottom. Hard to tell were without looking for it! No tolex left on bottom:( Cant see it anyway! Needs new feet i never got around to ordering them since they are not used with the dolly on. Have slight rattle in chassis still. Very fant but still there. Havent been able to track it down my self.

I have about a grand in it!

    I am at $800 cash.
Possible trade for vintage short scale bass or upright.
    Maybe another tube head?

Would like to keep this withen a few hours of Cincinnati. May ship for right offer? I am not pressed to get rid of this.

Ask lots of question!!! I want you to know everything i know!!

You're letting it go!? Well, I can vouch for it being a pretty looking SB-12... good luck with it!

Bump for an amazing vintage offer. Here's a photo from the early 1970's of the one I had (and had repainted the tube cage metallic blue!) back then.

    Very cool :D

  4. That hurts ;) Bike laid up against it and cage cut up.

Yea, my teen years. Nothing remained as intended! Bike is a chrome track bike, worth way more than the amp then. Used to play that Fender-Rhodes through the Ampeg (sometimes through a Premier Spring Reverb.) My SB-12 was refit with a 15" EV. Wild mods!

    "...cage cut up." ??

As for your SB-12...you'll be sorry.

  8. Yeah looks like he cut carring handles in his cage. I have seen a few like that on ebay.

I'm pretty sure this is stock. Mine has the same cutouts lined with the same C molding that goes around the bottom of the cage.

    Edit: Oops! Too slow.

Yes, those cut outs were stock. There was rubber molding that lined the edges of the cut cage. I remember that the original black cage was all scratched up and I just used whatever paint I had lying around the house at the time. The amp was not well suited for keyboard, especially with the 15" speaker. It did handle the bass, but the highs were absent. I lugged that puppy around to many a garage band session along with that heavyweight keyboard. Not fun.

BTW, I hope this isn't detracting from the sale thread. Any bump is a good bump, right? Your SB-12 looks so awesome. Brings back a ton of memories.

  12. Hmm wonder when they started doing that? Mine was made in 65 and it does not have the cut outs.

Just think of the memories you could have if you bought this!! :)
