I stumbled across this in one of those "Musician's Friend" type catalogs. Get a load of this:

I wonder where they got the inspiration to come up with those names...

I think it might make a difference, since they are violins instead of basses. Still...they have been more original...

It might make a difference, or not. Trademark law is kind of confusing sometimes. If two companies are in the same type of business (ie; musical instruments) there may be trademark issues.

I remember that Fender had to change the name of the Broadcaster to Telecaster because Gretsch already had a set of drums by that name. There have been other examples.

I do seem to remember that in the Fender case, Leo more or less volunteered to change the name to avoid litigation. It may be that he would have won the case, but didn't feel that it was worth the trouble.

I guess it depends on how Ernie Ball feels about it. It may not be worth their trouble either.

Maybe Ernie Ball would make the violin company pay a licensing fee for the name, just like Apple Computers has to pay Apple Corp. (Yes, the Beatles' Apple)

    Two teeny weeny questions:

    Who is the manufacturer?
How do you know they're not connected to Ernie Ball?:D

    Brad:

    The comapny name is "Wood".

Even if they were connected to E.B., I think they would have been more imaginative. Good point, though.

    Will,

If they are connected to EB they have a total lack of imagination:D
