Other than simplicity, tradition, aesthetics, and $$$, is there any other reason why you would choose a traditional J bass over a J bass with two dual coil pickups?

With switches and/or push-pull pots (series, parallel, single north coil, single south coil) it seems that the dual coil pickups could achieve any sound the traditional j bass could plus many others.

I never met a single coil jazz pickup that I liked. Tried Dimarzio Model J dual coils and fell in love. I consider side by side dual coil jazz pickups to sound more like a p bass type than a traditional single coil jazz. I have never tried a stacked jazz pickup and can’t give any comparison.
