Apart from the extra 100 watts in the Traynor, anyone have any thoughts on sound comparisons, I've seen lots about each but no real comparisons. Cheers
  2. The V4BH is my current head and the sound is pure Ampeg. It doesn't have that much power so you'll likely be overdriving it to be heard, which may be what you're looking for. I know it definitely sounds great, although sometimes you might be itching for a bit of headroom and a cleaner tone.

I briefly tried the Traynor. The sound was tubey and warm but it didn't have that Ampeg sound I was looking for. It had its own character, sounded a bit hot maybe? Unique tone. Many TBers have swapped out the tubes (not sure if they were pre or power) and got a great sound out of it, so if you're ready to invest a little extra (the heads are real inexpensive anyways) you can get an awesome sound.
