Also an AC/DC tribute band, Hell's Belles. Couldn't tell you a lick about 'em except they're all women.
Iron Maidens Lez Zeppelin Zeparella Judas Priestess Bitchfits (all female Misfits trib, I used to work with ‘Glenn’, or was it ‘Glenda’?). They had been called Ms. Fits, but they changed it after a cease and desist. Most of the time, if it’s a standard ‘recreate the experience’ band, they just use a best known, apropos song title; not very imaginative, but I guess it gets the idea across for advertising purposes. Nothing beats Midget Kiss for sheer spectacle.
Which One’s Pink? Cubensis (Dead trib) Mex Pistols Mac Sabbath(a psychotic freak show parody with McDonald’s characters) Brown Sabbath(not so much a straight-ahead trib, but a Latin/Soul/Salsa reimagining of Ozzy and company) Band Who Fell To Earth(Bowie trib)
I've seen Bon Journey - Pittsburgh area, right? There's a local tribute called Hootie & the Gin Sprockets. Haven't seen them, but cool name.
Yes, Bon Journey from Pittsburgh. I booked them for a large festival in August and my band is opening for them.
For popular tributes - like ACDC (and my God there are so many of them in the world) -- the best names are used repeatedly. You can't get away from it. Clever names are good but the name should suggest the band - often its the name of the band's most popular album or single like "Back in Black", "Rocket Man", or "Never Mind" or something - but sometimes they are funny clever, suggest both the band and the fact they are a tribute Proxy Music (for Roxy Music) Faux Fighters (Foo Fighters) The Rolling Clones (The Stones) Fleetwood Mock (Fleetwood Mac) Nearvana (Nirvana) The Fab Faux (Beatles) The Alter Eagles (Eagles)
That's a great one, not just because of the Beatles reference, but because revolving means something comes around again, and that is what you are doing. Brilliant, really.
Poo Fighters - A dad band. They play early to get home feeding the infants Dire Gays - Some feminist/lesbian/gay band from New York.
Dont' know if they are still active, but I heard of a band in my area that was a Ventures tribute. They were a dad band using the name The Dentures.
See, this is why some bands just don't get a lot of tribute bands. I mean, what do you call a Kinghorse tribute band? Countdonkey? Princecow?
