Tribute Band - What are some good bands to Tribute?

Discussion in 'Band Management [BG]' started by SmokinJoe992, Mar 14, 2019.

  1. The most popular tributes happening to be the most popular music: The Beatles, Ac/Dc. Ozzy, Van Halen, Bon Jovi.
I think a Tom Petty would go over well here in FL.

I would find a Steely Dan tribute to be very satisfying musically. Challenging but not excessively, and no need to find someone to emulate a one in a million type vocal talent.

I’m not into tribute bands but... would love to start (or let somebody start) a Norteño Jamiroquai tribute: Ramiroquai!

It’s been my dream to do a Green Day or Foo Fighters tribute. Alas, there are no like-minded individuals in my area.

Best tribute band to start is the one you already have the lead vocalist for.

Would love to see a Bowie tribute band. I saw a Bowie tribute set by a top cover band in town and they killed it, would love to see it again

I'm currently in a pink floyd tribute. Tried a u2 tribute but couldn't get it off the ground. I would love, and think there would be work for, the cars, fleetwood mac, and especially tom petty.

There's an ad that keeps popping up for a Steely Dan tribute in the Chicagoland area usually titled "I Can Sing Like Donald Fagen!" and then when you check out the links to his covers, it's not very close at all.

That said, I would LOVE a Steely Dan tribute band.

I’m in a Tribute Band called FOREIGNERS JOURNEY. You guessed it.....a Tribute to both Foreigner and Journey. We are very popular and sell out most venues we play throughout the Northeast!

I find tribute bands to be creepy. I realize that imitation may be some sort of flattery, just not for me.
I’d rather see/hear good musicians that don’t have to imitate anyone. I’ll move on.
