In August my High School soccer team (football for the Europeans) is going to England to prepare for the upcoming season. (we are a nice little school from NewJersey,US) We are going to stay at Loughborough University, then Leicester City(Oadby Town), then Cottesmore Town, then London at Paragon Hotel. There will be a lot of leisure time and my parents are going to give me about $200 spending money. Anyone know of any guitar/bass stores worth checking out. I'll be looking to buy some FX (probably distortion) or some new pups. I also just want to be able to play since I won't be able to bring my bass gear. I'm also looking forward to buying a nice Man U. Giggs and Ruud Van Nistelrooy jersey. These two guys are like the FLEAs of soccer to me. (High energy and kick ass)
Yup, try The Gallery or The Bass Centre. Don't get sucked in to the Denmark Street music shops. You'll only be disappointed and pay over the odds. Good shops for music books though... (Rose Morris etc.).
Bear in mind that most musical equipment will seem more expensive over here in the UK - you're unlkely to get any kind of bargain on effects pedals or pickups.
But, if I come back home with extra money and my parents find out they'll likely want it back. With good budgeting, I can make it look like I spent all the money on other things... (present for my brother, and other stuffs) I know this is relatively inexpensive gear, but I'm flat out broke! I lost my retainer(device worn in mouth after braces) and my parents made me use my money to replace it! Thx for the replies guys, I haven't fully checked out those websites yet, but they seem pretty nifty. If the prices are insane, I'll manage to think something else up. And plus, I just want a place to play too, they do allow that right?
hey kevin, this is OT but it is about you sig. the quote "me fail english? thats unpossible" is not by Homer Jay Simpson, it is in fact by Ralph Wiggum oh, and you'll probably have the most fun in the bass gallery, lots of unique and fancy basses Tom
I usually get into conversations with friends about Simspon's quotes. My friend told me that one and said it was by Homer, that bastard. My favorite Ralph quote is when he's taking tap dance lessons.... Instructor: "You must be Ralph." Ralph: "My daddy shoots people." And also the one about playing in the deep-end of his sandbox...just can't remember it word for word. To Angel: That's what our High School trips are most famous for
