So I recently purchased a used aguilar db750 with an aguilar GS 4x10. I'm pretty new to owning equipment seeing that I have always borrowed gear so I don't know my way around. When I start to crank it the cab seems to not be able to handle very much. You can't even hear me when the full band plays. When I turn it up, it starts to get distorted like the driver is about to blow. I plugged it into an ampeg 6x10 and it is immensely louder.. The ampeg is really beat up and not great condition so I'm lost as to what is wrong. There isn't any crackling so I wasn't sure if a driver was blown already or not in the GS.. I'm so lost.
Do the battery test on the cabinet to ensure all the drivers are working and are wired with the correct polarity.
+1, but you may be expecting more than your 410 can provide. Spkr cabs will only go so far, especially if you're cranking the low eq. try cutting the lows, and bumping the mids up some, or get a bigger cab. Is your 410 4 or 8 ohms? If 4ohms, you're pushing 750 potential watts through it. Doubt it can handle that.
I have the eq pretty flat. Its just weird because it's really quiet and everyone notices. There has to be something wrong with it. Its the 4ohm but I don't think it's even reaching even half its potential. Just wondering if anyone had an idea what was wrong, maybe something inside isnt connected correctly?
Hey, here is a good start...... I have to ask, what type of speaker cable are you using? Is it is good condition?
I ran a GS410 4 ohm with my 750 for years. With my gain at about 11 o'clock, EQ knobs at noon, and occasionally the low switch on, I never had my volume much past 9 o'clock before it became way too loud. The cab would never distort, it just stayed clean. I agree with other suggestions; do a battery test, and have a look inside, because it sounds like something is either incorrectly wired, or not hooked up.
