I'm building a jazz bass and I have a neck from allparts with the truss rod adjustment at the heel. I'd really like not to have to take the neck off to adjust it, so I was planning on making a little channel in the body and pickguard. The thing is, the adjustment isn't an allen wrench adjustment, it's in the shape of an X so a screwdriver would fit it. The alen wrench is handy because it has a curve at the end so it can fit in the channel. How am I going to make this work with a screwdriver adjustment?

  2. You can buy off set screw drivers, which are shaped like an allen key. Im not too sure I'd be trusting adjusting my truss rod to something with a phillips head insert! they can strip REALLY easily!

No, it would be meant for a flat, non-phillips, screwdriver.
