Truss rod alu channel, glue or not?

Discussion in 'Luthier's Corner' started by D.Don, Oct 3, 2008.

  1. Do you guys glue the aluminum channel that is used with "martin style" truss rods?

    If or not, then why/not?

    Cheers!

I didn't. Nobody told me to. The only thing I heard was to use silicone between the fret board and truss rod, but i didn't do that either. If the slot is snug all around, the rod won't move or vibrate.

  3. When I took out the rod and channel I didn't get an impression that is was glued, and the slot is really tight with the channel hence my question here. I don't think I need to glue it and I'd be surprised if it'd vibrate at all referring to the tight slot (I had to drive the tunnel out of the channel using a screwdriver and a hammer).

    Thanks!
