So, it appears that my older MTD #329 takes a special trussrod tool, which requires a socket-like piece to fit OVER the end instead of using an allen key to place INSIDE the end. Does anyone have one of these as a spare or know how to get one? Thanks in advance!! Oh, and so as not commit the 'no pics no bass' sin:
I would say email Mike T., I'm sure he'll gladly point you in the right direction. He's a super cool guy to deal with.
As we PM'd, that bass brings back lots of wonderful memories. That is a special MTD IMO! I included that 'ratchet' type tool when I sold this bass. You might want to check with the guy you bought it from. He might have just forgotten to ship it with the bass. It's a cool tool in that it is a phillips screwdriver on the other end, so pretty much the only tool you need to adjust the neck and/or remove the battery cover. I'm sure Mike still has some of these around. I'm not sure why he when to the more traditional truss rod adjustment design, since the original MTD design works so well. Enjoy that amazing bass!
Have to revive this thread. I just got a 15 year old MTD 535, serial in the three hundreds and need a truss rod wrench. Seems to be either 5/16 or 8mm??? Any one know for sure? Here's the current all parts link for a 5/16 tool: http://www.allparts.com/LT-4216-000-516-Box-Wrench_p_2201.html
