try a double truss rod without knowing what im doing?

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by SuperSubSonicRainboom, Apr 20, 2014.

  1. should I try setting up a vintage bass eventhough im a beginner? it has a double truss, but everything else im confident about. how hard is it to get it right about the double truss specifically? How do I know when I need the setup done by a pro?

  2. I don't mean to sound like a d*** but if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't do it yourself. Maybe practice on something less valuable.

A few words scare me here, "vintage bass" and "beginner". Not to put you down or anything, as I'm unfamiliar with double truss rods myself (hence, I too am a beginner with double truss rods), but I think it might be best to have it done by a pro if the vintage bass in question is of any value.
