Try IE7 yet?

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by Chunk-O-Funk, Dec 17, 2006.

  1. Not sure how long this has been out. I just got it in my automatic window updates.

    Two Words.
    Tabbed Browser! (finely)
It's also has a pop up blocker and Phishing filter and it seem a few other ad-ons are available as well.

The interface is a lot sleeker. For the few minutes I've had it I like it a much better than IE6.

I've tried Fire Fox and before that Opera. I never did make either one my default browser. For whatever reason I always went back to IE.

Does anyone else have it yet? Or have I been under a rock?
Does it rival Fire Fox now that it has tabs? Security issues aside, which I have never had.

Had it for a bit. Don't use it over Firefox. It did seem, in the brief time I used it, that the Phishing filter slowed things down a bit.

Tabs were ok, but not quite as good as Firefox. I'll poke around in it occasionally, but it hasn't made me want to switch from FF.

And I'm not sure I'm a fan of pushing it out to everyone on XP.

While it is much better then IE6 it still isn't anywhere near as good as Opera. IMO

While IE just got tabbed browsing, Firefox has had a crude form for a little while and Opera has had it for a long time. It is still a good deal slower then both FF and Opera I think also.

The phishing filter definitely slows it down.
I use Firefox but just occasionally use IE when I need too, I also turned that phishing filter off.

  5. ive just got it, but im gonna stick to firefox, its more easy to use.

    meh.. it's still IE...

You'll still be cleaning Spyware off your system for the next 6 years...

    Safari is much better...

wow.. I'm a mac user for a week, and already I am getting all arrogant and snooty about it... *L*

I tried out the public beta and the final version when it was released, but I'm still using Firefox.

The highlight-text-and-search-Google feature in Firefox, though a seemingly pretty minor thing, is actually one of the dealbreakers for me. I kept trying to do it in IE7 out of habit.

I use it, but it seems slow, and very often, the images do not load. I get those little red x's, and regardless of what I set, the images do not load. So that, and the slowness has it relegated to a backup of Firefox.

  9. I've used macs for years, I prefer Firefox over Safari though.

Firefox > Safari > IE IMO

I use FF at home and IE at work, but our IT guys won't let us download or use IE7 yet.

I've tried it, and IMO it still doesn't compare to Firefox. Firefox just has so many better features that IE7 doesn't have. Firefox is and always will be my default browser untill I find something better... which is yet to happen.

I've been running it for a few weeks at work, and just downloaded it today at home (on 56k, mucho painful).

I like it! I'm used to opening links in a new window, and I like the tabbed concept much better.

I was able to finally dump Google Toolbar, too - I downloaded a spellcheck plug-in called ieSpell. It can be found through Tools > Manage Add-Ons.

  13. Firefox is superior in every way for me. More themes, extensions, and overall just a great browser. IE cannot compare, although I do have to use it sometimes for random reasons.

I am using IE7, and this feature works fine for me. I stumbled upon it by accident, and thought I would give it a try. I like it.

I've been using IE7 since a day or two after it came out..........put it on 4 different machines that I use, with no problems so far.

I have it, but it hasn't taken me away from FF. I've come to count on firefox at home and at work, where I had to download and install it illicitly since its a forbidden application there. I couldn't survive my job without it, and my supervisors keep their mouths shut about it because they know that IE would most assuredly cause my eventual insanity.

So it hasn't blown up anybody's computer or made changes to basic windows functionality? I always tread lightly with new browsers from Microsoft.

I've been using Opera as my main browser for at least 5 years. I love it. But I keep IE around for the occasional compatability problem.

I tried it a few months ago and I like it FireFox a lot better. If a page is notcompatable with FF, I click on the IEtab extension on FF.

+1 Same reasons - FireFox still rules my home computer, but every once in a while (for various reasons) I have to use IE - and every time I do it gives me the same warm fuzzy feeling of having to use public transportation.
