I'm going to try the new Carvin Neo 15's (NE15-8) in this cab. As many know, there are limitations as to which drivers you can use, due to the horn. The driver must be shallow. The Carvins, and the Kappalite 3015, fit well. Here's a pic of the Carvin: Eminence techs recommended the 3015 to me as a replacement ... I'm going to try the Carvins first and see how they work out. Cheers, Liam
Thanks, Jimmy! We'll see how it goes. I'm not being very scientific about it, but then I have no idea how to model a folded horn cab anyway, nor do I have T/S parameters for the Carvin drivers. I'm going on two things: first, Eminence recommended the 3015, and second, Greenboy mentioned that the Carvin drivers seem to do well in similar dimension cabs as the 3015. The TB'er I bought the cab from says that when he had it loaded (not sure about which drivers) it would keep up with an Ampeg 810 volume-wise. I can''t wait! Cheers, Liam
Also subscribed for your review. I have an old VT410 laying around that I would like to drop some of the new Carvin Neo 10's in. The cab would be just over 50lbs with the new Neo's.
Neither did the Sundholm brothers, who didn't even know what a folded horn was. They copped the term, but not the technology. The 200S is a bass reflex cab, irrespective of what Sundholm/Sunn called it. It was a seat of the pants design built around the JBL D140, so drivers with similar specs to that will give the best results.
Thanks, Bill. So what effect does the "horn", "folded thingie", "piece of wood" have in a cab such as this? Thanks, Liam
