So many people argument that one is better than the other. Traditionally tube amps are more expensive. If money wasn't a factor would you rather have an all tube amp or a solid state amp?

do a search for tube vs solid state..

i'm not usually a search nazi but this subject has been beaten to death....and beaten to death in the afterlife...then beaten during re-incarnation....then beaten again

Tube for me because I like that deep low punch. However I do think solid state amps are more verstile in sound choices.

Sorry didn't mean to beat it with another ugly stick on it's way to hell but I did the search on it and nothing came up that's why I put this poll up.

Where's the "No preference" option? Poll is meaningless without it.

  15. I chose solid state as my amp is a Gallien Krueger 1001RB but I once played at a gig through another guy's Ampeg SVT CL with Ampeg 8x10 and that was a great sound too! :)
The natural tube compression took some of the attack away when I used my pick but it was sweet nonetheless.

I like both...and at the moment, it looks like Semiconductors and Thermionics are neck 'n' neck! ;)

I want it all. I want the tone of tubes with the weight of SS. :D

  19. I made my choice. I like SS.

Tubes are for cavemen. Well, either that or for bassists that have caveman roadies to lug around the blocks of lead.
