Been camping the Tacoma/Seattle for months and been searching ebay with NO luck for a tube preamp. Everything tube seems to be both pre and power.

I think I screwed myself with a poweramp/cab because 99% of pre amps are not tubed. Anyone have any suggestions? :bawl: :crying: :help:

  3. Go to for a sample of many preamps. let's see which preamps have tubes in them besides the ones already mentioned:

    Demeter 201S
    Demeter HB1
    Alembic F1 X
    Alembic F2-B
    Kern IP 777
    Aguilar DB659
    Read Purity
    Fender TBP-1

That should be enough to get you started. :D

actually, most bass preamps available have at least one 12AX7 tube in the signal path. FWIW, craigslist is kinda bottom of the barrel. The talkbass classifieds usually have a few tube preamps on them at all times.

There are usually a few laying around down at Bass Northwest. In about six weeks my BMAX-T will be down there on consignment for cheap if you can hold out a little longer. My Avalon U5 with blue lights on the front will be in by then and the BMAX will be extra gear.

Yeah, you obviously looked in the wrong places or something.

There are 3 tube preamps offered by arguably the most popular bass amp company in history... Ampeg. So yeah... now you've got many options. :p
  11. maybe he was misspelling tube everywhere?
