I'm looking for a tube preamp (old or new) that I should be on the lookout for. ($240 or less) I'm not interested in emulated warmth because it all sounds scooped and although I tend to scoop the eq on my amp I don't want to spend $$$$$ on a preamp that sounds scooped.

I saw a peavey tube preamp on ebay a while back and didn't take advantage of it for $180 :bawl: :bawl:

Ah yes, the beloved Peavey Max. That's the preamp in my big rig, and even though I have an SVP-Pro and a SWR Grand Prix, the Peavey still gets the call. The best $150 spent ever!
