    Hey,
I have an Ampeg B25B head with some fairly old tubes in it - I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for replacement tubes that are LOUD. I don't mind having it rebiased, etc., I just want to know if I can squeeze anymore volume from it. Thanks!

    No tube gurus out there?

  3. It uses 7027 outputs. There isn't another type of tube you could sub for more power. A 7027 is a 6L6GC with extra grid pinouts, but the Ampeg doesn't use them, so you can use any good quality 6L6GC as a replacement, but even with a serious mod for 6550's, which would produce only marginally more power and would not be worth it, you're stuck. If you need more volume, get a more efficient cab or a more powerful amp.
