Hello everyone, up for sale is a minty 1992 Tune Zi-iii 4 bass. It is truly a hand crafted thing of beauty. Neck through body design. Walnut and Ash body, ebony fingerboard, maple neck. The fit and finish are incredible, rivals any “custom shop” type instrument I’ve played. The neck is straight, smooth, and incredibly fast. The electronics are all original and from what I’ve read, the pickups are very similar to Lane Poors and are sought after. Knobs are volume, blend, and low pass filter. 4 band EQ plus pickup gain levels are done through the backplate. The only thing missing is the truss rod cover. I even have the original leather clad gig bag! I bought this bass originally to record with and as an alternative to my p-bass but it’s just not getting the love it should. I would be happy to sell outright and would be more interested in trading for another mij or cij Fender precision or jazz bass, JV serial Squier, MM Stingray or Sterling. Lowest current prices I’m seeing on Reverb or eBay is $1,100-$1,400.
I had a Zi-iii five string and I miss it. Looks like they fixed some of the issues with that bass, namely that the bridge saddles wouldn't get low enough, with this one. Really really nice bass.
Bump. Price drop. This thing is too sweet to sit. Someone is going to get a killer deal on this bass.
I've owned a hundred basses, two of them were 90s Japanese Zi-I or IIs. Of all my basses, these two basses are my biggest regrets in selling. I loved Everything about these basses: the quality, the feel, and especially the incredible clear punchy tone. I can't say enough good things about these Japanese Zi models. I have some trade bait, but I don't think it fits the bill, so I won't waste your time! Good luck.
Unfortunately I can’t get the original one and I haven’t seen one for sale. There’s a chance the new Japanese Tune company may sell them? I could work out a deal that would leave you with enough to buy one
I am honestly not sure. Let me see if I can find the info for you. me neither man! I thought this thing would sell fast with how nice it is for the price. So clean for a 30 year old bass
