Hello, I'm new to Talk Bass and new to using effects. I use a American Fender Standard 5-String with an Ashdown EVO II 500 amp with a 1x15 cab and 4x8 cab. I've always used a Boss TU-2 tuner and I recently purchased a Dr Green Octa Dose for use with a new band I've joined. I'm having a big problem with a high pitched, squealing noise from the amp when I use these two pedal together. The noise is not deafening but loud enough to mean that I could not use it live. Each pedal individually does not make the noise, only when they're used together. One thing that might be helpful to know is that, when the either pedal is switch on, the pitch of the squeal goes up slightly. Also, the pitch also increases with the amount of lights that are lit up on the tuner. Reversing the order of the pedals does not make a difference. Can anyone think of why this is happening and/or how to solve it? Please help!
I haven't tried with batteries but I've used this power supply for the tuner without any problems and I can use this same power supply to power my tuner and my Big Muff together with no problems. Would you still suggest I try with a battery in the tuner? The Octa Dose cannot use batteries...
I would try the power in the octave alone then with a battery in the tuner see if that helps. It might be a power to the octave issue.
Another thing to try would be to plug in the power supply (and amp and what not) into another outlet in the house if possible. I have had instances when some of my outlets were just noisy (maybe not grounded properly... idk). Give it a go and let us know.
Hi Dean-oh, I'll definitely try that. I've had suspicions about the outlets where I usually plug my gear in.
