Was just putting some new DR strings on my Carvin LB75. For the second time in two years one of the tuner posts sheared off while winding the string to tension. The stock tuners have lasted ten years and maybe that's considered "life", but I would sure be interested in something more substantial than cast aluminum. I need something in black to match the rest of the hardware.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations on some heavy-duty tuners?

  2. That is disappointing indeed. The Hipshot Ultralites are direct replacements and are as good as any tuner on the market. You could also go for the high end Gotoh GB7 Aluminum lite tuners if you wanted a sealed tuner and didn't mind the price tag.

Hipshots! At least they would "match" my new bridge. Thanks.
