tuning BEAD

    I am tuning my bass BEAD.. its a 4 string and im getting a 5 string set and strinnging my bass BEAD.. should I loosen or tighten the tross rod? how do I make the neck adjust to this change as fast as possible? got a band tryout in 2 days that I need this for :X
     
  2. You'll probably want to loosen it slightly, and raise the action on the strings a little, since the deeper strings will need a little more room to vibrate, and will be slightly lower in tension. Any adjustments should be slight, so don't overdo it. Your bass might not need much time to adjust, especially if you change one string at a time. I know mine generally stays where I put it. It depends on the instrument. You may need more time to settle in than it does, if this tuning is new to you.
