tuning down a 5-string

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by jayscott, May 19, 2002.

  1. im currently in a band that tune to c.i tune my bass accordingly gcgcf. any advice on this tuneing and and how to still have some tension left on the strings
  2. The only drop tuning I do on my 5'er is drop A = AEADG. Personally I cant imagine tuning as low as you are, even tuning my B down to A is like playing a floppy fish and I hate it and is the main reason I started searching for another band recently, heh. Both guitarists in that band have 7-strings and drop the B to A as well. So, I dont see how you can get more tension at all.

  3. GCGCF ??

why the hell would you want to do that ?
  4. lo-end

Use standard tuning, chief. there is a C note on the first fret of a B string.
  5. you could a half step up from standard
