    Hi. :)

Here's the deal: I recently decided to tune my 6er from low #F to G. I know it will require me to modify the nut and, probably, the Warwick bridge[This I'd really want to skip.].

As I live in Poland - the biggest problem is - getting the strings. I mean - getting good strings for a standard tuned 6er is already a problem. Get the point? :help:

Obviously, I'll get them from abroad.

Can you please tell me which company offers strings for low tunings? Tappered would be best, I think, since I don't want to destroy the bridge. I know SIT does make strings like that, but they don't seem to inform about it on their website. :eyebrow:

    [Hopefully] Future low-end explorer,
    Michael.

Oh, my bass is 34.25 scale if that changes anything.

    yeah,

help us guys, we`ve been talking about it for a while, and while we seem to have sloved the second big problem with tuning to low F# - amplification (can you say - "1x18 + 4x10" ?:), but the strings are simply unavailible here, in poland.

second thing, if anyone have done this and encountred some problems with setup, etc., please give us a hint... i have a shaller bridge, and `34 scale. both of our basses are neck-through.

and the last question - will our pickups do the job? mine are emg 45j/45p with a 3 band onboard eq at 18v. AFAIR Meehaw uses bartolini with NMTB.

    Thank you, Supernaut. :smug:

So, it's down to these two contestants (or is it?). Snakeskins or Power Steels? What do you think? Are the Power Steels tappered at the bridge?

you can also try to get strings from juststrings.com - they should be able to help you. if you get tapered strings, you shouldn't have to modify the bridge except for intonation. :hyper:

Thank you, JT. I already searched at juststrings.com, but they don't seem to have them phat stringz. Did I search in a wrong way, or should I just e-mail them? :ninja:

  7. Try Newtone Strings here in the UK, they handwind strings and do custom winds, they may be able to make you a low F#.
