Tuning keys gear ratio

  1. What does the gear ratio mean?
Is a lower or higher one more precise?

A typical ratio is 20:1, which means 20 turns on the tuner equal 1 turn of the cylinder that holds the string.
So the higher the ratio, the more precise.

the higher the gear ratio the longer it will take u to wind new strings on.
