are there any notable UPRIGHT bassists who have employed the Eddie Van Halen style two handed tapping techniques to such a different instrument as the double bass?

Brian Bromberg is the only one I have come across. There are many threads about him.

Mark Dresser and Barry Guy also use it. I use a left hand only version sometimes.

I don't know if I'd compare him to Eddie Van Halen, but check out Charnet Moffit. He does some cool stuff with his right hand that I don't fully understand.
