    Tyrolean Flatback double bass
    with Ebony fingerboard and tailpiece.
New end pin and sound post. Panpi bridge with height adjusters.
My own bit of research found that 3 stringers were made until around 1850s.
So this bass has 3 original machines and 4th is a mismatch. They all turn quite smoothly.
The original blockless neck heel has been blocked, and the integrated bass bar has been removed and new one installed.
    Here are the measurements:
    • 73.5" length overall
    • 25" lower bout
    • 14.5" middle
    • 20.5" top bout
    • 7.75" rib
    • 42.5" scale

When I purchased this bass I told the seller that its probably a Tyrolean instrument. He lit up to say that he lived 20km from the Tyrol/Austrian border and that he moved to Canada with this bass in the 1950s. :)
