I am wondering how to set my EQ to get a tone like Flea's on Under The Bridge? He seems to sound fat and punchy, yet can still cut through. What's the secret to that tone? Any help would be great.

The ULTRA clean, somewhat quiet guitar tone really helps allow him to cut through well. Other than that, his sound is all in his fingers.

I can hear valve break up in either the guitar or the bass. Which is it?

The guitar does have a little bit of breakupin the verses and chorus. The intro is clean, compressed guitar.

Ok cheers for that. Would his EQ get lost in a rock song? Does he scoop his mids?
