Up for sale is a very interesting homemade violin bass body & neck husk. The solid mahogany body has a slightly rounded/carved top and flat back, the mahogany neck is a fixed, thru-body design, and the fretboard is a beautiful and very thick slab of rosewood. The fretboard is completely flat (and again, nice and thick), so any desired radius could be easily achieved. The tilt-back headstock has a nice laminated face (see headstock side profile picture), and the tuner holes have 9/16" ID chrome bushings in place. The truss rod/nut turns freely. The glue joints of the body wings to the neck are extremely tight & well done, and the pickup & rear control cavity routes are about as clean as I've seen on an "amateur" build. The clear lacquer finish has yellowed over time, and there are scrapes, nicks, dings, etc., but the bass was obviously never finished. The bass is also setup for a 3 point Gibson-style bass bridge (posts and bushings included, but no bridge). Here are some critical dimensions:

    Scale Length: 32" (medium scale)
    Number of Frets: 21
    Fret Markers: None
    Nut Width: 1.75"
    Heel Width: 2.25"
    Pickup Route Size: 3.625" x 2" (x2)
    Bass Overall Length: 44.5"
Body Width: 12.5" (at widest point)
    Body Thickness: 1.5" (at edges)
    Weight: 7.0 lbs.

It was with some other parts & project pieces I recently purchased.

I'm quite motivated to have this not sitting around, so feel free to make an offer.
