Looks like a wannabe Alembic bass. It could also be a wannabe guitar, considering he's got it plugged into a Boogie Nomad guitar amp. :smug:

  3. Defo based upon the Classic Alembic style but i think with some hot pups in and a nice fret clean and gernally tidy it could be a good lil bass to have fun with.. :p...

and yeah the add on ebay says he's a gtr player not a bassist...typical GTR player dunno a carrot from a screwdriver :p...

it looks good. headstock somewhat resembles kawai, but I doubt if it is one. my best guess would be a homemade bass..

but I think it definitely is worth a shot. makes better wall decor than a squier :)

Looks a lot like it could be a modified Jaydee... the control configuration and scooped-out slap area would suggest it, although the bridge is different to anything Jaydee have done. It could also be a modified Wilkes - they're quite well-known in the UK for making "tributes" to other companies' instruments! :D The headstock is ugly though, and look at the state of that control cavity!

  6. I thought it was a Wilkes a band called Plan A, their bass player uses a Wilkes Alembic Rouge copy..sounds awsome thro his Trace AH600 and Messa 4x10..

but the headstock doesnt look like a wilkes....im starting to wonder if its just a limited run by a luthier...

might just save up for my second GB instead...

Just to Hyjack my own thread..

Its currently in the pipe line of being spec'd

    Wo0op Wo0op...

    New GB? Do tell... :D

I miss my old GB sometimes... if you come across a non-standard body shape GB Rumour with a big headstock, blue LEDs and two Hipshots, that'll be my old one...

It was Eubassix I sold it to... he said he was going to keep it as his personal bass! I hope it found a good home, it was a great bass, just not quite right for me.

Back on the original thread, that's definitely not a Jaydee and I am pretty sure that it's not a Wilkes either, at least not one of Doug's standard models. The headstock is all wrong and, quite frankly, I think Doug would have made a better job of it. Where's the link to the ebay auction (curious to know what it went for)?

The attached shows a picture of a pretty representative Wilkes bass - though this one has fretted E and A strings and fretless D and G strings.
