Thanks to Chris and Brian for the updated pictures :bassist:

for those who missed the other threads and the specs

    Benavente 51 6 string fretless:
    slab Swamp ash body
    Maple neck
    Stablized Birds eye maple board
custom dual coil pickup wound by John Suhr (wood covered)
    Benavente 3 band pre
    34" scale
    etc etc etc

I was going to go transparent blue with a red tort pickguard but Chris thought the grain *needed* to be burst.... I agree!!!!!

I'd requested a brass slap plate (which Chris has done) but I ditched that idea as the stablized maple is hard and responsive enough.

    I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

[disclaimer] I designed and update the Benavente website ... take my love of Chris' basses with a grain of salt and once again: If anyone wants to check out my Benavente (or the new one when I get it) and are on the East Coast, shoot me a PM and I'll give ya directions!!! I love these basses!!! [/disclaimer]

Great looking so far, Speddling. I'm sure it's gonna be a toneful monster. Keep posting progress pics!

This finger board is killing me as well. I can't even post this bass forsale yet, because I'm going to have to play it to decide if I'm keeping it my self!! Its killing me and the top will look like Keith's 219B finished.

Keith's 219B Spalted Burl Maple top!!!

Dang James that is going to be a hip bass.

Other than Woodchuck (always on tour :bassist: ), can any of y'all think of ATL cats that have Benevente's Basses?

I'm really itching to try one.

Its a Bocote board. Chris didn't really tell much about what he was going to use for the finger board. I was going Macc Ebony and he said he had something cooler.......then I get this!!!! :D

    Looks great.

Im not sure if this is the deal with your bass but Ive always thought that a humbucker in the Music Man position is the way to go for fretless.

    Thats gonna be a monster.

    Peace
    Nick

Thanks Nick, I spent a bit on the phone with Chris and Brian on this one. I'm looking for more of a P on 'roids then a stingray tone. Kinda like the G&L L-1000 even. Plus the Ash and Maple + the Stablized Maple board will be plenty focused and articulate.

James, IIRC, you told me that this wasn't even going to have side dots; Am i right about that ?

with side dots (I think I spec'ed abalone, but whatever is fine)... no markings on the face.

though I think I'd manage fine without (I doubt it could make my intonation worse  )

  19. Hey speddling,
