Well, this is how I spent my Saturday morning...

I picked up a new Fender Standard Fretless Jazz and added the following:
    - Badass Bridge
    - EMG-JV pickups
    - White pearloid pickguard

Hard to tell from the picture, but it's Midnight Wine (a nice burgundy color).

So how does it sound/play now?

I am curious to know myself since I have two MIM Jazz basses and was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade them.

Who cares, it looks good! :)

Actually, it sounds and plays great. But I didn't go out and buy those upgrades for this bass. I had them in a project bass that I managed to screw up. Rather than having those nice parts sit and collect dust, I ordered the inexpensive Fender and threw them in there. I'm very pleased.

hey man.. its a great idea to upgrade your mexican basses... i had a mexican fretless jazz and i put 62' re issue pickups, as well as i had the neck epoxied at a luthier. its great, people always give me compliments on it... and plus... its fun to upgrade and customize....peace
