dont know if this is the right place but i thought you guys would be the ones in the know! basically i wan't to turn my dean edge 6 fretless into something that can at least hold its own, live, against my warwick corvette fna.

the problems I have with it at the minute is it not cutting through the mix and the MASSIVE difference in volume between that and the warwick.

It currently has stock pre and passive EMGs in it.

What am I best upgrading and what to? Thanks.

  2. put nordstrands and an audere on it, it'll sound BETTER than the 'wick. Nordstrand makes sizes to replace many EMG standard sizes and the audere is always made custom with the controls you want. well worth the price.

thanks for that, what are the prices and which one should i put in first because I probably won't be able to afford both in one month!

nordys with the stock pre would probably change the tone more than changing the pre.

I dont necessarily disagree, but a good pre-amp gives you more control over the tone of your instrument. Thats what its designed to do.

will the pickups boost the volume more than the pre?

Dont know but, another idea, being that your in england, would be a John east pre-amp. may or may not save you some money vs. the Audere.
