I've been playing vintage Fender P and J basses through an Ampeg SVT III Pro with an SVT410Hlf cab and have been mostly happy with the sound. I however am on a quest to obtain more definition and am wondering if I should upgrade my cabinet to a PR-410-HLF. Can anyone comment on whether there is a significant difference between the two cabs with regards to obtaining a more defined bass sound without loosing the true vintage Fender sound? Any pros and cons?

First, I would like to point out that Ampeg is not the best gear to reproduce instrument's true tone.

The pr410hlf will give you more low end and a flatter tone over all but its not very defined compared to other brands or other Ampegs.

I find that the best thing to do is pair a SVT410HLF and an SVT410HE.
