UPS Just dropped of my Stingray 5

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Oldie but noobe, Mar 17, 2005.

  1. WOW it's purdy It's my first MM . :hyper:
It is a made in 06/93 according to the S#534--It's is a Trans Blue Burst with a white pick guard and Maple neck. I paid too much so don't ask. It is really mint conditon though!

Its sounds so alive I am just playing through an Ibanez SW35 . I have to figure out what the knobs do on the SR5
Then practice ,practice and more....... :bassist:

I have been trying to learn G**tar for a year. Bass feels so much more natural.

That looks really nice. I think that EB/MM generally has the best and most interesting assortment of colors.

I disagree. I'd have paid the same. That's a very nice bass.

The knobs - starting with the one closest to the neck -

Volume, Treble, Mids, Bass. Start with all the EQ positions in the centre to get that classic stingray sound, then adjust from there to taste.

There's also a pickup selector. For the classic stingray sound, use the position closest to the bridge. This uses both coils in parallel. The centre position uses only one coil, and the position closest the neck uses both coils but wired in series.

Here's the funny thing. I left my SR5 at home last night and took my old Ibanez along for reasons which I won't go into here. I gigged that Ibanez solid for 10+ years and liked it. But now that I've been gigging the SR5, the Ibanez sucks. I really struggled last night. You're gonna love that SR5

Love the bass. Glanced at the title and misread it. I was expecting a shattered husk.
    Thank goodness I was wrong.
It's never too much if it's the one for you.

That G string looks awfully close to the edge. Is it slipping?

  19. Yeah, it looks that way doesnt it :S

And dont worry about how much you spent, if its the right one, you dont have to worry about buying another bass, anytime soon at least ;)
