So, I have been loving my Peavey Fury and Foundation. They feel great and sound great.

Been thinking about trying a 5 string. Just thinking it would be much easier to work in the box on those low notes than to worry about open strings, etc. (thinking blues in E). I know, it sounds like a lazy reason, but oh well.

I noticed Both the Foundation and the Dyna come in 5 strings. Do these compare to what I play now or are they different animals? Can I expect the same feel and fit?

    Thanks in advance.

I have a Fury 4 and previously owned a Foundation 5. I believe they were both from the early to mid 90's. They were similar in feel and fit & finish, IMO. While they were both inexpensive, they were both incredibly solid and sounded great.

For the prices they command these days, keep your options open. US Millenniums are amazing and come up fairly often and are heads and shoulders above the Foundy and Fury.

I did see the Millennium. Like the looks and may go that direction, but I like vintage and the fives are going for about $200. Almost seems like you can't go wrong at that price.

Actually, there is a a Foundation and a Dyna closing on ebay today, both about $200, but I'm just not ready to pull the trigger.

    I have a fretless Axcelerator.

They also come in fretted 5s, are dirt cheap AND fantastic basses.
