I have a USA Jazz 75 RI which is black with white pickguard.

Does anyone else know of this rare variation of this bass or even whether what I have is genuine?

It was made in 2001/02 according to the serial number on the headstock. The serial number is s/n z11380xx

  2. That looks like the MIM 70's Jazz Bass. Can you post a pic of the headstock?

I have the same bass. The black ones seem to be a bit more rare than the natural finishes but they did make them in black too. Mine is definitely a US model and I would assume that your's is too but other guys on here that know more about the serial numbers might be able to confirm.

For about the first five years Fender offered these in several colors: black, white, sunburst, and of course natural. And both types of fretboards.
