Played one at GC and was quite impressed. The build quality seemed good. But as usual when my questions got specific no one could answer them. Does anyone know what type of rosewood is used on the FB?
It looks like pau ferro but has more open grain to it. Maybe cheap Indian rosewood? Any info is appreciated.

Very few makers use Brazilian rosewood anymore, because it's been over-harvested. It's almost completely been replaced in practice with Indian rosewood, which is cheaper, more plentiful, and works just as well. It's just not as pretty.

You can tell by looking at the wood it is not Brazilian Rosewood. Not on a mass produced Fender. Just wondering what rosewood Fender uses on the USA basses.

My bet would be Indian rosewood. There is a legal source for Brazillian Rosewood. It usually comes form stump cuts and is still quite costly...... Bet it's not used on production models.
