I've had a hankering to assenble a Fender style frankenbass (J body + P neck) probably using Allparts body and neck. I was in a local shop today trying out flangers and was using a late 90's MIM Standard Jazz for the testing. When I picked it up from the stand I almost threw it into the ceiling it was so light, and it really felt pretty good. It seemed stock except for a Lace Sensor pup at the bridge. The price was $425 CDN ($350 US) including a hardshell case. Is that a decent price?

I'm going to end up with my frankenbass, but what do you think folks, should I assemble a bass from bits and pieces, or start with a working bass and replace bits as my mood and budget allow?
