Saw this auction on eBay, for an instrument formerly known as "P-Bass". Modded beyond recognition. I suppose it might fit well in a goth Manson-esque band. Damn fugly to me. YMMV.
It's just become a piece of costume jewelry. A fashion statement. If that's your stage "look" then you'll probably think this is really cool. Out of that context, everybody else will think it looks dorky.
I give the guy a LOT of credit for not trying to pass it off as being more than it is. It's a squier that he thought he'd make a cool creation out of. I don't personally like it, but I dig the uniqueness of it. Oh, he did a sweet job on the tuners.
Another pointless butchery. I'm surprised they didn't put **RARE** on it, like they usually do for ugly and repulsive instruments. But that's just me.
A part of me dies every time I see someone mutilate a Rick for the sake of "creativity" or "uniqueness." The worst travesty was somebody cutting points onto the horn and knocking about 25% off the side of a 4001 body.
It's certainly not my style but kudos for the design and execution. The bass actually has an aesthetic balance to it and it doesn't merely look like a 10 year old with a coping-saw had at it. Take a look at the BunnyBass gallery of horrors and you'll see some seriously awful hack jobs.
