So I got an iPod for Christmas from my brother, and I have to admit that my initial disdain for mp3 players has turned into a genuine appreciation.

I've loaded about 1.5 gigabytes of music so far, and it's a great tool for carting around music for learning. Also, I brought it to rehearsal, and I plugged it into my bass rig (with a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter) when I needed to illustrate a certain part of a tune we're covering.

I'm finding myself listening to more music now that I have the iPod, even though I have a portable CD player. It's nice to not have to bother with separate discs and player, etc.

For PC users, there is a free patch that lets you use the iPod, and there are other large capacity mp3 players out there.
