Using two types of strings at once?

Hi all - my first post, so hopefully this works.
I play a 5 string Peavey Foundation. Music ranges in style but mostly blues and classic rock.

I have played with the standard D'Addario XL Nickel Strings mostly. I recently tried some D'Addario half round strings and love the solid sound on the low B and E and A strings, but do miss the high's of the round wound on the D and G strings. Those strings sound quite dead in comparison.

So, would it be crazy to mix strings? Using the half round on the low strings only?

Any thoughts on this or other strings that provide a solid low end but that nice definition on the highs still?

    Thanks, Adrian.
