So I was bored, took my camera to work and snapped a few shots of the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk in Sydney Harbour.

Here's one from my office (excuse my reflection):

Here's one from down opposite the naval base:

    Another close up:

And an F-18 waiting for Maverick and Goose to show up (yes I know they were tomcats):

    That is all.

You can be my wingman anytime, Mark.

What exactly do you do aboard that ship?

...Vorago, he just took some pics, he's not a crewman! ;)

Mr. Latimour, nice pics (even the one from your office). :)

That's very cool. My brother-in-law served on the Kitty Hawk during Vietnam. He has some great pictures from his time there. He was a brown shirt (plane captain) so he spent most of his time on deck. He has a couple shots of a Russian Bear flying over doing low level recon work. Very cool, he'll be pleased to know it's still in good hands.

Nice shots, Mark! I was wondering how our "invasion" of Sydney was coming!

I think I speak for all of us when I say thanks for not pulling the old "naked reflection" Ebay trick.

I thought they might be a bit suspect about a "dark skinned" guy sitting opposite the carrier with binoculars, a camera and reading Dostoyevsky's Brothers Karamazov. That said, no one in dark glasses and a suit approced me. Yet :D

  15. What's a USS ship doing in Australia?

It's a good thing you weren't using your new novelty stinger missile-shaped camera.

The crew wanted to see my band play, so they invaded the bars of Sydney under the cover of darkness.

Them navy boys party hard! Real hard!
