How come most bass effects i have tried and seen kinda suck? For example you buy an ibanez pedal for guitar and it sounds good. You buy a pedal for bass and the odds of it not sounding to hot are pretty high. Is it harder to make pedals for the lower frequency?? Or do manufacturers like Boss just not care about the quality (sound quality not durabilty, we all know boss makes rugged effects) ?? I know there are some effects for bass that rock so if you could choose a top 10 bass effects (pedals not rackmount etc) what would they be?

  2. Sounds like you don't have a good sound to start with.

Maybe you need to upgrade your amp, to get a basic sound to build the effect sounds on.

I have about a zillion effects in different devices, and only a few sound bad, but that's because they weren't designed for bass.

  3. My top ten: Hmm I gues their not in any order,

    -Lovetone Meatball.
    -Line6 Stompbox Modulors.
    -EH Bass Micro Synth.
-Electrix Vocoder: very cool if you have a microphone or occilator like the Frostwave Spacebeam.
    -Frostwave Funk-a-Duck.
    -Chunk 00Funk.
    -SansAmp BDDI.
    -Lovetone Ringstinger.
    -Lovetone Flange with no name.
    -Fatman Tube Compressor.

  4. My effects don't sound bad at all. I run 3 Boss pedals. DF2, CE3, BF2, and the tone is fine, there is no extra noise. It's all good.

  5. Umm.....have you ever actually PLAYED thru a Chunk or Frostwave....? They are not always as "bass-friendly" as you may imagine......

My amp is ok right now. I have a Fender Bass man 100 (which to my novice ears sounds prett good) but one day ill have a kick @ss stack. It just seems effects don't sound that great and that if they do sound good they are very expensive. Maybe i just havn't tried the good ones. Anyone have any comments about...Jim Dunlop 105Q Bass Wah, or the EH BassBalls???

  7. Maybe you should start with a Tech21 SansAmp Bass DI.

Even on my little Fender 25 it makes the amp sound better.
