What do you think? Worth fifty bucks?

  2. More importantly, will it run properly on an Athlon 650 (on a 133MHz board, but still) with 384 MB of RAM, pushing a first-edition DDR GeForce?

From what I've read, it barely taxes the processor or memory but stresses your graphics card to it's limits.

We should all try to hook up for some mutiple player fragging!!!

Cool, an all bassist slaughter! Perhaps we could get a team of guitarists together to kill.

They would be to busy tinkering with all the guns "What does this one do??" -BOOM- opps fragged themself.

    Maybe drummers??

  7. Yes, too good to be true (for me!)

How about a mini UT2003 Championship here on TalkBass?

I'm all for it. I love that game, I still stink at it though.

Be careful with that game - highly addicting.

I played the demo quite a bit. Nice gameplay. The guys at work went to Eletronics Boutique to buy the full version yesterday.

I declined. Less time to play bass when I get addicted to a computer game.

Nope, it's very processor speed oriented, far less v/c oriented.

On a sub 1GHz machine, don't even try it. I get some lag in certain spots with my rig, which scores 14k in 3dmark2k1SE.

I'm down for the championship on UT2k3. :D

Well, that directly contradicts the reviews and my personal experience, but maybe it's all in the settings? Unless the game is wildly different than the demo?

    I have that, great album.

    :D

I've only played the demo version, it was fun on LAN. Online was so laggy as to be a joke however.

What is your connection speed? The reviews did say that 256k frame and slower are not so hot.

Oh, it was from work over a T1, but our net connection is iffy. The thing is though, the way the lag manifested itself was horrible. But I only tried a couple of servers so that's hardly a real sample.

With my OC it's fine (2.26b @ 2.72GHz with DDR400 CAS2.5-3-3-6-1t), but without it (2.26b and DDR400) it's a bit laggy in spots. I use all highest texture settings though. Perhaps with the lowest you'd be able to run it with decent fps. But not with GeF2 ti even. UT's very cpu intensive. Likely the most cpu intensive game out there. Most other games are more memory oriented (like quake and all the quake-engine games).

Finding this out isn't very hard, just compare which cpu's they run better on. AXP's run faster on UT while P4's run faster on Q3 and Q3-engine games. P4's are more memory dependent and generally have more bandwidth, while AXP's have a higher IPC.

I can go more in depth, if you want.

  20. Well in 640X480 it runs good and not really laggy on Athlon 900, 128 RAM, and 8 megs video. Yes I have sucky computer, but play UT 2003 a lot and it works fast.
